Abstract

In a first phase, this method allows the easier, more rapid and better cutting of the tissues in successive sections and their rough alignment on the basis of the properties of a truncated pyramid, and then the mapping of the structures contained in each section and the recognition and completion of the structures contained (Figs 11, 12,13), for the purpose of enabling their three- dimensional representation either digitally or in some other way, in the form of a model or cinematographic film. Biologists are enabled to observe the various structures from a different visual angle, to recognise structures which were previously not visible (because covered by other structures), to estimate their volume, number, spatial position, and to film them cinematographically (3D animation).
