999,939. Bending. PACIFIC INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING CO. March 2, 1964 [March 14, 1963], No. 8670/64. Heading B3E. A press brake includes a multiple opening die having a plurality of longitudinal, metal bending slot openings therein, a holder for the die, means for elevating the die off its holder and means for adjustably rotating said die while in its elevated position. A die 3 which is formed with a plurality of longitudinal grooves 11, 13, 15, 17 and rests on a holder 5 on the bed of a press brake having an upper press ram 21 with a knife die 23 co-operating with the selected one of the grooves 11, 13, 15, 17. To adjust the die 3 about its axis to present another groove to the knife die 20, a lever 65, bearing against a head 51 on a stud secured to the die, is rocked to pull the die 3 longitudinally. Pivot plates 33, 35 supporting studs in the ends of the die 3 are rocked by this movement to lift the die from its holder 5. The handle 65 is then rocked in a direction normal to the longitudinal axis of the die 3 so that teeth thereon engaging radial teeth 69 on the head 51 will rotate the die 3 about its axis. When the desired adjustment has been made the die 3 is allowed to drop back on to its holder 5. The handle 65 may be moved by power means to lift the die 3 or power may be applied directly to the die.
