Abstract
999,560. Pulse radar. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 11, 1957 [July 18, 1956], No. 22311/56. Heading H4D. In a pulse radar system, which irradiates simultaneously on two radio frequency channels, elimination of interference signals, including jamming which occur on one channel at one time, is effected by means of an arrangement of adding and subtracting circuits which combine the signals in the two channels so as to leave only the echo signals. The signals in the two channels are added and subtracted to form, respectively, two further waveforms, the pulses of the latter being of one polarity after passage through a phase splitter. The latter are then subtracted to form a third waveform consisting only of the echo signals. The radar system consists of two separate magnetrons which feed the aerial through separate bandpass filters, to ensure that the radio frequency channels are different. For continuous wave interference, the received wave is converted into pulses of duration equal to the operative interval of the receiver.
