Abstract
998,802. Mould release film; regenerated cellulose films. BRITISH CELLOPHANE Ltd. Dec. 21, 1961 [Jan. 13, 1961], No. 1575/61. Headings B5A and B5B. A cloudy cellulose film having a matt surface, which is used as a mould release film, is formed by casting viscose into a coagulation bath, in which the sulphuric acid concentration is between 5% and 45% by weight above the concentration at which cloud is first formed in the cellulose film. An example is given in which a standard viscose with a salt index of 3À0 is extruded through a slot-shaped orifice into a coagulation bath at 42 degrees centrigrade containing parts by weight:-12 sodium sulphate; 30 sulphuric acid; 0À1 lauryl pyridium chloride; 57À9 water. The coagulated film is led through a series of liquid treatment baths to complete the regeneration of the cellulose film and to wash and purify the film, over a series of treated drying rollers and is wound into a roll. Glass fibre reinforced polyester epoxy resin sheets with matt surfaces may be moulded in a stainless steel mould lined with a cellulose film as above.
