Abstract

998,634. Reel-holders. F. D. SIMS Ltd. April 6, 1964 [July 20, 1963], No. 28808/63. Heading A4G. [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for handling wire in bulk comprises an angled, e.g. square, box 1 having an open end and a lid 7 therefor, the cross-section accommodating a flanged reel 12 and means within the box to prevent lateral movement of the lower flange 15, i.e. spigot 19 on the box bottom engaging the hollow core of the reel. The upper flange 14 is smaller than flange 15 to facilitate unreeling. The lid has a hole 10 with diametral wing slots whereby a U-handle 17, normally dropping into the holes in the reel, may be lifted through the slots until handle lugs 18 abut the end of the barrel of the reel.
