A quick riser release attachment for a parachute construction comprises a first attachment member 10, adapted for attachment to a riser B of a parachute, an attachment member 12 adapted for attachment to parachute loadcarrying harness A and having a portion 32 which extends upwardly from a lower body portion 30, the member 10 being adapted for releasable pivoted engagement with the portion 32, and resiliently biased catch means 38, 42A which can releasably engage the member 10 and are mounted in the portion 30, whereby when the parachute is exerting a pull on the first and second members, the first member is normally in locked engagement with the portion 32 and with the portion 30 and release of the catch means, causes the first member to become disengaged from the catch means and to pivot outwardly from the second member and then become disengaged therefrom to release the riser from the harness. As shown, the catch means comprises an open-ended piston 38 which is adapted to receive an end portion 22 of the portion 10, the portion 22 being passed through a slot 35 in the portion 30. A safety pin 50 is passed through aligned holes in the member 12 and the piston 38 respectively. In another arrangement, Figs. 10-13 (not shown) the member 10 is provided with a socket, instead of the projection 22, which is engageable by a stud-like extension of the piston 38, which on this arrangement is solid.
