Abstract
The invention comprises (a) compounds of formula <FORM:0997500/C2/1> wherein the -NHCO- and -COOH groups are in ortho-relation, A is an ethane, benzene or naphthalene residue, R is an alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl group and B is the residue of a compound B.NH2 which will react with the oxidation products of N,N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine to yield a quinoneimine or azomethine dyestuff, and (b) their anhydrides of formula <FORM:0997500/C2/2> a benzene residue, R is 4-dodecylphenyl or octadecyl, and the compounds are made by reacting B.NH2 (of which a number of specified) with an RNHSO2-substituted phthalic anhydrides. Starting materials.-The RNHSO2-substituted phthalic anhydrides (R=4-dodecylphenyl or octadecyl) are prepared by reacting phthalic acid-4-sulphonchloride with 4-dodecylaniline or octadecylamine and heating the RNHSO2-substituted phthalic acid obtained with acetyl chloride.
