Abstract

Oxidation catalysts comprise a support having a surface area of at least 100 sq.m./gm. carrying 5-20% CuO, 0,01-0,1% Pd and 1-15% Cr2O3. Specified supports are g -Al2O3, SiO2-Al2O3, SiO2-MgO, ZrO2, ZrO2-Al2O3 and ZrO2-MgO, in nodular form, e.g. 3-10 mesh. Admixture of the constituents may be effected in the presence of a complexing agent, e.g. sorbitol, citric, tartaric or glycollic acids. Examples are given.
