Abstract

Hair is waved by impregnating it with a composition comprising a reducing agent serving to break the disulphide bands in the hair, e.g. monoethanolamine thioglycollate or ammonium thioglycollate, and an aluminium salt of a saturated fatty acid e.g. aluminium triformate or triacetate, a zirconium salt or a pyridinium salt, e.g. octadecyloxymethylpyridinium chloride and stearamidomethylpyridinium chloride, and then setting it in waves or curls. The treating composition may also contain polyvinyl acetate, ammonia, paraffin wax, a perfume and methylated spirit.
