Abstract

994,969. Advancing mine roof supports. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. May 16, 1962 [Feb. 24, 1961], No. 6921/61. Addition to 823,127. Heading F1P. The parent Specification is modified, in a first embodiment, in that all the jacks connected between the base members of both types of roof supports 4,5 and the conveyer 1 are omitted and each roof support is connected to each adjacent roof support by a double-acting jack 13, e.g. in the manner described in Specification 966,034, the two types of roof support 4, 5 being arranged in any desired order. In such an arrangement the conveyer 1 may be advanced by pushers which are separate from the roof supports. In an alternative arrangement each roof support is connected to only one adjacent roof support in the manner described in Specification 658,998. In a second embodiment the roof supports are arranged in any desired order other than that disclosed in the parent Specification and they are advanced in the manner disclosed therein i.e. by jacks connected to the conveyer.
