Abstract
994,801. Aerial warfare. L. R. P. MATGE, H. S. M. VAUTRIN, and R. A. ROBERT. Nov. 22, 1961 [March 15, 1961], No. 41739/61. Heading F3C. A casing 10 suspended beneath an aircraft and containing rocket guide tubes 11 as described in Specification 877,602 is provided with sealing plugs 13 in the forward end of each tube, each plug being ejected as the associated rocket gets under way. The plugs 13, which are made of a material such as polyethylene, are spherical and are held by friction against the inner wall of each tube. Each plug has an equatorial rib 15, which provides a seal. An annular shoulder 16 within the tube 11 acts as a stop to limit rearward movement of the plug 13. The closure 20 of the casing 10 may be fractured by the plug 13 of the first rocket fired.
