[Also in Division B8] Pulverulent lubricant material is distributed over the upper surface of a billet to be pierced in the container 11 of a press, by putting the lubricant into a vessel having a perforated bottom 4 closable by a sliding plate 8 with similar perforations, placing the vessel over the billet in the container and moving the sliding plate 8 to bring the perforations into register and thus allow the lubricant to fall therethrough on to the billet. The plate 4 has an upstanding wall 7 to contain the lubricant, closable by a hinged lid 3. Sliding plate 8 is actuated by linkage 9. Specification 603,582 is referred to.
