Abstract
The invention comprises a green direct dyestuff of formula <FORM:0993594/C4-C5/1> in which A is the residue of a blue anthraquinone dyestuff, said dyestuff being obtained by the condensation of 1 - amino - 4 - bromoanthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid with a phenylene diamine or diamino diphenyl compound, said residue being attached to the 1.3.5-triazine residue via an amino group, B is the residue of a yellow amino azo dyestuff (D-N = N-E-NH2) with at least one sulphonic or carboxyl group in which D is a naphthyl, phenyl, or biphenyl group and E is a phenyl group, said residue being attached to the 1.3.5-triazine residue via an amino group and being of such structure that the sulphonic or carboxyl group is not in an ortho position to the linking amino group and R is morpholino, monoethanolamino or diethanolamino group. The anthraquinone dyestuff residue may be substituted by one or more of the substituents alkyl, hydroxyalkyl and carboxyl groups and halogen atoms and in the residue B of the yellow amino azo dyestuff the naphthyl, phenyl or biphenyl group, D, may be substituted by one or more of the substituents alkyl, hydroxyalkyl and acylamino groups, the acyl in the acylamino group being derived from an aliphatic carboxylic acid containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The dyes are prepared by condensing a cyanuric halide at a temperature of 0 DEG C. with a yellow amino azo dye as defined above, the pH being controlled by the addition of alkali so that it does not fall below 4, taking the above condensate the cyanuric nucleus of which still carries 2 halogen atoms and condensing with the blue anthraquinone dyestuff as defined above and finally reacting this second condensate containing the one remaining halogen attached to the cyanuric nucleus with morpholine, monoethanolamine or diethanolamine at 90 DEG C. Examples are furnished. The dyes colour viscose, nylon and wool in green tints.
