Abstract

In the manufacture of an electric lamp having a bulbous glass envelope, a portion of the envelope while in the softened state is embossed or indented to provide a legend thereon by being forced into contact with a complementary indented or embossed portion of a wall of a mould. The legend may be provided either on the neck portion of the envelope or between two planes normal to the axis of symmetry of the envelope, one lying on each side of the parallel plane containing the maximum diameter of the envelope.
