Abstract

993,017. Mounting motor vehicle controls. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Oct. 9, 1962 [Oct. 13, 1961], No. 36767/61. Heading B7H. The light switches 11a, a dipper switch 11b, a direction indicator switch 11c, an overdrive switch 11d and a horn switch 13 are all mounted on a control panel 10 located within the dished steering wheel 8 of a vehicle. The control panel 10 is carried by a tube 2 mounted alongside the steering shaft 1 of the vehicle, the hub 7 of the steering wheel 8 being journalled on the tube 2 and connected to the steering shaft 1 by pinions 5, 6 or by a chain and sprocket wheels. Cables 12 from the switches extend through the tube 2 and both the tube and the steering shaft are enclosed by a housing 3. The tube 2 may be axially adjustable and a choke control mounted on the control panel 10 may operate through a Bowden cable extending through the tube.
