992,238. Vehicle parking systems. KOCKUMS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS A.B. April 17, 1962, No. 14854/62. Heading B8E. [Also in Divisions B7 and F2] A motor vehicle park in which fixed parking bays 1 are provided along one or both sides of a driveway 2 is equipped with additional parking spaces within the driveway in the form of platforms 3 which are each mounted for rotation about a vertical axis to allow for manoeuvring vehicles on them into positions in which they will not obstruct movement of other vehicles in the driveway. The rotational axis 11, Fig. 3, of each platform is preferably (see Fig. 2) adjacent the mid point of one longitudinal edge and the axes of successive platforms (see Fig. 1) slightly staggered in relation to a line extending lengthwise of the driveway 2. A handle 17, Fig. 2, may be raised to a vertical position to facilitate manual rotation of each platform and is connected to a rod 18, Fig. 3, which releases a band brake 32 (see Division F2) whenever the handle is raised. When the raised handle is released it is spring returned to a brake-engaging position in which position it is accommodated in a recess 21 (Fig. 5, not shown) in the ramped edge 5<SP>1</SP> of the platform.
