Abstract

In an automatic or continuously variable transmission (CVT) control arrangement within a vehicle, a lever 2 is displacable within a slot 1. This lever at specific operational positions e.g. D, R, representing vehicle drive modes may be displaced into a side spur 5. The side spur has a 'T' adjunct giving further operational positions 6, 7 consistent with the configuration of the transmission for the vehicle mode e.g hill ascent 7 or decent 6 options of a CVT in which torque is controlled to give wheel rotation without slippage under specific conditions. A further lever is not required for modifying drive modes thus selection of options is less confusing to an operator of the vehicle.
