Abstract

990,897. Destroying insects. PACIFIC AMERICAN CORPORATION. Sept. 3, 1963, No. 34780/63. Heading A1M. An electrical device for killing insects comprises two sets of wires 70 and 72 connected to a source of high voltage alternating current and a light source 43 for attracting insects on to the wires, the dead insects falling into a removable tray 33 which may also contain bait and be coated with a light-reflecting material. The light source is preferably a fluorescent lamp emitting ultra-violet light. In Fig. 6 oppositely charged wires 104, 106 are arranged vertically and the tray is in the form of members 121 hinged together and moved by chains 126 to eject dead insects. Located within the tray are wires 117, 118 across which is a high potential difference. Fluorescent lamps are provided at each side of the devices.
