Abstract

989,355. Making tar macadam. AUTOGEN ENDRESS A.G. Jan. 22, 1962, No. 2314/62. Heading E1T. [Also in Division B1] Plant for mixing aggregate with binder comprises a mixing chamber 8, Fig. 4, having at one or opposite sides aggregate containers 45, 48 pivotable, optionally by motor driven means, to the discharge position shown in broken line and heating means such as gas burners 55 supplying hot gases to flues 54 formed between the chamber 8 and the containers 45, 48. An outer casing 7 extends below the burners and outlets 56 at the top of the flues are regulated by sliding shutters 57. The mixture may be pumped from the chamber to a distributing pipe and the same pump may be used to supply binder from a storage tank to the chamber. In an embodiment, Fig. 9, in which alternative heating means are used, the mixing chamber 91 is enclosed in two spaced jackets 94, 99, heating tubes 96 each connected at one end to a gas burner (not shown) pass through the inner cavity 95 which is filled with e.g. oil and some of them are bent round at their other ends to discharge hot gases into the outer cavity 100. The gases are finally discharged through apertures 56. Hot gases from the tubes 96 which do not discharge into the cavity 100 preheat fuel gas in containers adjacent the ends of the tubes.
