In a vertical lathe, a rotary table 4 has a bearing ring 5 secured by a flange inserted into the table. The ring has a bearing surface 7 resting on a bed 1 which is adjustable vertically by wedges 2. Lubricating oil is supplied through pipes 8 and returned through channels 9 and pipes 10. Gangways 11 are provided for servicing-personnel.
