Abstract

An aerosol powder composition comprises 15% by weight of an active powder, e.g. a tooth powder or anti-perspirant, having a particle diameter from 15 to 100 microns, a powder-bulking agent, e.g. silica gel, having a particle diameter no greater than the active powder, a non-polar organic liquid insulator, e.g. a light mineral oil, a surface active liquid, e.g. a sorbitan derivative, and a liquid propellant, e.g. dichlorodifluoromethane and dichlorotetrafluoroethane. The specified composition is such that the sum of the volumes of the constituents, excluding that of the active powder, is equal to the product of a number between 1 and 10 and the difference between the volume of the active powder at atmospheric pressure and at the maximum yield point, i.e. the point at which there is an increase in strain in the powder without a corresponding increases in stress.
