988,506. Spin driers. E. BONN, [trading as ERWIN BONN WASCHMASCHINENFABRIK]. March 25, 1964 [Sept. 7, 1963], No. 12530/64. Heading F4G. The brake pad 9 and switch 16 for the motor 4 of a spin drier are operated by a Bowden cable 15 controlled by movement of a hinged lid 3 through a rod 11 which passes within the drier casing from the lid through an aperture in a partition 5 to a guide bracket 10 secured to the casing. A compression spring 13 is mounted above the bracket about the rod and bears against a strip 12 carried by the rod so as to vertically move the rod upwardly on opening of the lid so as to automatically brake and switch off the motor. A rubber collar 17 seals the rod where it passes through the partition.
