Abstract

987,842. Treating eggs. MULTIFAX CO. Feb. 11, 1964, No. 5609/64. Heading A1M. A method of introducing material into an egg comprises applying a vacuum to a limited area of the egg shell and submerging the egg in a solution of the material for a predetermined time so that the material is drawn through the shell and shell and egg membranes into the interior of the egg by the vacuum. As described a suction cup 1 connected at 2 to a vacuum source is applied to a hatchery egg 4 which is then immersed in a solution 5 containing an anti-biotic, bactericide or vitamin, the time of immersion depending on the amount of material it is desired to introduce into the egg. Theegg is then transferred to an incubator tray 9. A number of suction cups 1 are attached to an apparatus 7 which can be manipulated to lift the eggs from case 6 into tank 8 and then into the incubator tray.
