Abstract
985,414. Electric bells. V. & E. FRIEDLAND Ltd., and J.DOGGART. Oct. 19, 1962 [Oct. 11, 1961], No. 36547/61. Heading G5J. [Also in Division H2] The striker unit for an electric bell comprises a plunger armature of soft iron which moves within a hollow tube 26 of non-magnetic material and is attracted towards polepiece 27 when coil 28, which is of smaller axial length than the comprised tube and polepiece, is energized. A brass striker rod 34 passes through a bore in polepiece 27 and strikes gong 16 which is mounted by screw 19 on a thermoplastic base 11. A sectum spring 35 is mounted on the striker rod to bias the armature to the position shown when the coil is deenergized. Contact arm 42 is moved by head portion 47 of armature extension 46, which may be made of insulating material, and operates a pair of contacts to break the coil energizing circuit at the moment when the armature is subject to the maximum flux. In a modification the batteries are mounted adjacent the bell unit which uses the striker unit of the invention, and the whole enclosed in a lowered cover. Specification 985, 413 is referred to.
