An electric signalling device has a base and cover one of which is a moulding having shaped recesses to contain the battery cell or cells. Figs. 1-8 (not shown) illustrate a chime having two tone bars 29 each supported rigidly at one nodes and freely at the lower node in such a manner that they may be struck at their antinodes by a striker reciprocating in a solenoid of known type. Another embodiment using suspended sound tubes again struck by a reciprocating mechanism is described (Figs. 9-13 not shown). An embodiment using a dome type bell struck by a reciprocating striker in a solenoid is also described (Figs. 14-19 not shown). The connections between the cells may be made with phosphor bronze strips. By arranging that the contact to the solenoid is broken only when the striker is at the point of maximum flux the beat of the bell is made minimal. Specification 959,666 is referred to.
