Abstract
A process for curing a polymer or copolymer of a mono-olefin in the absence of high energy ionizing radiation comprises heating said polymer in the presence of one or more curing agents comprising sulphur, sulphur containing compounds and/or organic peroxides, and in the presence of an alkyl-substituted thiourea. The polymer may be derived from ethylene and/or propylene and other monomers such as vinyl chloride, vinylidine chloride and vinyl acetate, may be present. Preferred thioureas are the dihexyl, monodecyl, mono- and di-dodecyl, mono- and di-octyl and tri- and tetra-butyl thioureas. Optionally, zinc oxide may be present.
