A coffee-making machine, of the type described in Specification 797,651, comprises a container 6, Fig. 3, for liquid coffee connected to a push-pull dispensing valve 23, through staggered holes 21 in a tube 20 rising from a hollow boss 19 at the base of the container, so that liquid coffee, substantially free from dregs and sediment, can be drawn from the container. The machine also comprises a water boiler 2, Figs. 1 and 2, mounted on the vertical wall of a casing 1. The water is heated by electrical elements 3. The boiler supports a conventional unit 4 for making, filtering and dispensing liquid coffee into cups. A horozontal table 7, projecting from the lower part of the casing, is provided for supporting cups. On each side of the unit 4, a bracket 5 projects horizontally from the casing. Each bracket 5 is provided with a recess 10, Fig. 3, having an open mouth whose lip supports a container 6 closing and sealing the mouth. Hot water is circulated, from the boiler, through pipes (not shown) and the recess 10, to heat the container. Each bracket carries a vertical column 9, from the upper part of which projects a horozontal arm 8 having a substantially bell-shaped part, which supports an infuser 11 housing a filter axially above the container 6. The latter is provided with a lid 31, which is pivoted at 30 and can be opened to allow liquid coffee to flow from the infuser into the container. Coffee powder is placed in the infuser 11, to which hot water is supplied, from the boiler, through pipes (not shown) and a valve 12 on the column 9. This valve can be actuated manually by means of a handle 13, which is spring-loaded so that it tends to remain closed. A float 18 is provided, in the container, to sense the level of liquid coffee therein. The float has a vertical stem 16, which slides in a guide 17. The top of the stem makes contact with the free end of the longer arm 15 of a two-armed lever, pivoted at 15a to the arm 8. The shorter arm of this lever is formed with a detent 15c, which, at a low position of the float, engages a roller 14a mounted on an arm 14 connected to the handle 13 and moves the latter into position 13a to open the valve 12, so that an infusion of coffee is made and flows into the container 6 to raise the level of the liquid coffee therein. The float rises correspondingly to a predetermined level, at which the roller 14a is disengaged from the detent, so that the handle moves into the valve-closing position 13c.
