A cigarette or the like comprises a cylindrical tobacco portion 2 aligned with a tubular bit portion 6 and a cylindrical member 12 within the bit portion 6 defining two chambers 24 and 10, the chamber 24 being in communication with the outside of the cigarette via a plurality of radial holes 8 and the chamber 10 being in communication with the chamber 24 via a plurality of jagged edge holes 22. The total cross-sectional area of the holes 8 is preferably about 0.002 square inches. Specification 955,639 is referred to.
