Abstract

980,354. Hosepipes. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. Aug. 19, 1963 [June 13, 1962], No. 22750/62. Heading F2P. A hose pipe comprises an outer circular woven jacket 10 and an impervious lining 11 bonded by adhesive 12 to the jacket, the weft of the jacket consisting of one or more helically coiled, load bearing continuous filaments 14, and one or more bulky yarns 15 coiled in a helix of larger diameter than said filaments, the warps of the jacket consisting of a substantially uncrimped load bearing continuous filament yarns 16 extending between the wefts and bulky heavily crimped binder yarns 17 which bind together the helically coiled wefts. The weft 14 may be a mono-filament of metal wire or a plastics material such as a polyamide, polyester or polyolefine and may have a square, rectangular, circular or elliptical cross-section. The weft 15 may comprise a staple spun textile material made of cotton or flax, or a polyamide, polyester, polyolefine polyacrylic or regenerated cellulose fibre or it may be a monofilament of the textile materials specified for weft 14. Warps 16 comprise yarns such as a polyamide, polyester, polyolefine, polyacrylic resin or a regenerated cellulose. Warps 17 are made of yarns such as cotton, polyamide, polyester, polyacrylic resin or regenerated cellulose. The jacket may be provided with an external coating of a synthetic plastics material or an elastomer which may be provided with a layer of foamed plastics material between the jacket and the outer coating.
