Abstract

980,148. Plug boards. AMP Inc. March 20, 1963 [April 2, 1962], No. 11007/63. Heading H2E. A multiple electrical conductor panel assembly 20, e.g. a computor plug board, consists of two panels 46 and 42, having similar arrays of mutually engageable contacts. Panel 46 is fixed and panel 42 may be moved from the operative position shown in Fig. 1 by lifting lid 50. As lid 50 is raised cams 96 are rotated through links 80 and allow panel 42 to drop sufficiently to disengage the contacts. Pins 70, moving in slots 66, then raise links 60 so that cam slots 72, 72a move guides 34 in transverse guide slots 32. The guides 34 receive projections 30 of the panel 42 which is thus moved away from the panel 46. The projections 30 are also moved into line with longitudinal guidegrooves 25 so that the panel 42 can then be removed by sliding it parallel to panel 46 in groove 25. The panel may be reinserted in the framework by reversing the above steps. Specification 796,333 is referred to.
