979,642. Furnace covers. KNAPSACKGRIESHEIM A.G. May 17, 1961 [May 17, 1960], No. 18021/61. Heading F4B. A cover, e.g. for an electric arc furnace, comprises a jacket 1 of cylindrical or frustoconical shape and a substantially circular middle part 2, the middle part being formed with apertures 3 to receive the electrodes of the furnace and with removable portions 4 extending from the apertures to the periphery of the middle part, the removable portions being connected to corresponding removable parts 5 and the jacket. The sides of the removable portions 4 may converge towards the centre of the cover, as shown, Fig. 2, or they may be parallel. The removable portions 4 and the removable parts 5 may be removed separately.
