Abstract
Glass fibres are formed from a composition, apart from impurities, consisting solely in parts by weight of SiO2 55-85; Al2O3 10-35 and MgO 4-25. A number of examples are given. The drawn filaments are sized, as by an organosilane, a chrome-complex or like size or they may be coated with metal, particularly aluminium or alloys thereof. U.S.A. Specification 2,391,870 is referred to.
