Heading B8T. in a pouring device comprising an outer element and an inner element air passes through a tubular member 25 in the outer element and thereafter through a vent opening in the inner element to permit liquid to flow through radially arranged openings 45 at the junction of an outer cylindrical member 38 and an inner cylindrical member 44, which both form part of the inner element, and then in the direction of the arrow 31 between the tubular member 25 and a radially outward tubular member 20 of the outer element. The maximum rate of flow of the liquid through the inner element is less than the maximum rate of flow through the outer element preventing gushing to a chamber between the two elements and enabling a substantial volume of air to be maintained within said chamber. In a modification the openings 45 are at the outer end of the outer cylindrical member 38 thus increasing the distance between them and the vent opening and preventing splashing of the liquid in the passage between the two tubular members 20 and 25. In a further modification the tubular member 25 may be eliminated with the retention of support members 23 and 24 which form pockets for controlling the entrance of air, and the inner element may have in addition an inner wall 160a. The elements are attached to a bottle neck by flanges 19 and 40 and are moulded from synthetic resinous material.
