977,528. Voltage modifying and converting systems. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 23, 1963 [Jan. 29, 1962], No. 3301/62. Headings H2F and H2H. Electrical equipment for producing a high direct voltage and a low alternating voltage which has a high mean potential includes a voltage multiplying circuit of the type which comprises two stacks of condensers interconnected by rectifiers, one of the stacks comprising two lines of series connected condensers C2a-C10a and C2b-C10b, each pair of condensers being interconnected by inductors L1-L4 having centre taps connected to the first stack of condensers by rectifiers D1-D9 and D2-D10, the input of the low alternating voltage being by way of a transformer T3 connected between the two lines of series connected condensers whilst the low alternating voltage having a high mean potential is taken from a transformer T2 at the opposite ends of two lines of series connected condensers. Instead of earthing the centre tap of the secondary winding of transformer T3 the centre tap may be connected to a feedback device for stabilizing purposes. The low voltage may be used for energizing the filaments of electron microscopes.
