Abstract

977,143. Supply systems for consumption apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 28, 1960 [Dec. 30, 1959], No. 44446/60. Heading H2H. An alternating current source 1 such as a transistor converter with a parallel combination or an inductor and capacitor across the output thereof and to which output a plurality of loads such as the discharge lamp circuit of Fig. 2, having a capacitive characteristic during starting and an ohmic characteristic when running, may be connected has the capacitor element divided into a number of parts 14, 15, 16 as shown in Fig. 3, one or more lamp circuits being connected across each pair of capacitor terminals 4, 17; 17, 18 or 18, 5. Thus although the switching of the lamp circuits on or off influences the output frequency of the source 1, the output current remains substantially constant. Alternatively, if the loads each have an inductive characteristic during starting the parallel combination may comprise a single capacitor and a plurality of part inductors, each load being connected across each pair of inductor terminals.
