Abstract
976,962. Mooring ships. TAYLOR, PALLISTER & CO. Ltd. Jan. 2, 1961 [Nov. 3, 1959], No. 37314/59. Heading B7S. [Also in Division B8] A ship S is moored to a wharf or jetty by ropes R1, R2, attached to rotatable ballards 1 (see Division B8) which may be rotated via gears 27 by electric motors 28 so that the ropes are disconnected under their own strain from the ballards. The motors 28 are connected via leads 29 and starter 31 to power source 30, the starter 31 being connected via cables 32 and coupling 34 to a starter button 33 on the bridge. It is thus possible to unmoor the ship from the bridge, the coupling elements 34 separating when cables 32 are put under tension.
