Abstract

Compositions for use as textile finishes are aqueous dispersions of 1-25% wt., based on the total aqueous dispersions, of non-aqueous components comprising (A) lubricant ingredients, from 30-90 % wt. of which consist of a liquid mineral oil hydrocarbon and/or of an aliphatic diester of a dibasic acid, the diester molecule containing at least 12 carbon atoms, and from 70-10 % wt. of a petroleum jelly having defined physical properties, and (B) a plurality of non-ionic dispersing agents having a polyalkenoxy group in their molecules, the weight ratio of (A) to (B) being from 9 : 1 to 3 : 13. Suitable dispersing agents are alkyl polyethenoxy ethers, alkylphenyl polyethenoxy ethers, and polyethenoxy fatty acid esters, examples of each of these types being given. In examples, triethanolammonium laurate is also present.ALSO:Compositions for use as textile finishes are aqueous dispersions of 1-25 wt per cent, based on the total aqueous dispersions, of non-aqueous components comprising (A) lubricant ingredients, from 30-90 wt per cent of which consist of a liquid mineral oil hydrocarbon and/or of an aliphatic diester of a dibaric acid, the diester molecule containing at least 12 carbon atoms, and from 7-10 wt per cent of a petroleum jelly having defined physical properties, and (B) a plurality of non-ionic dispersing agents having a polyalkenoxy group in their molecules, the weight ratio of (A) to (B) being from 9:1 to 3:13. Suitable dispersing agents are alkyl polyethenoxy ethers, alkylphenyl polyethenoxy ethers, and polyethenoxy fatty acid esters, examples of each of these types being given. In examples, triethanolammonium laurate is also present. Textile filaments which may be treated include those derived from polyurear, polyurethanes, polyesters and polyamides, each type being exemplified.
