Abstract

A high molecular weight linear polyacetaldehyde containing more than 100 CH3-CO-O-units linked directly to each other is mixed with 0.001 to 50% of at least one nitrogen-containing polymer or copolymer of molecular weight above 1,000 and 0.001 to 20% of at least one amine, the percentages being based on the polyacetaldehyde. Specified nitrogen-containing polymers or copolymers are polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polycaprolactam, methoxy methylpolycaprolactam, polyamides or copolyamides e.g. from ethylene diamine, tetramethylene diamine, hexamethylene diamine, N-methylpropylene triamine, ethylene glycol bis-amino-propyl ether and/or 4-41-diamino dicyclohexyl methane with oxalic, succinic, glutaric, adipic, sebacic acids, heptadecane-dicarboxylic acid and/or terephthalic acid as well as polyamides or copolyamides of o -aminocarboxylic acids or polyamides from caprolactam. Specified amines are methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl or stearyl amine, N-methyl-ethyl, N-methylbutyl- or N-methyl stearyl amine, dimethyl, trimethyl, or tributylamine, aniline, methylaniline, diethylaniline, diphenylamine, beta-naphthylamine, bis-p-dimethylamino diphenyl or ethylene glycol-bis-p-amine-phenyl ether, cyclohexylamine, pyridine and melamine.
