973,709. Gamma ray testing of railway sleepers. CLEVELAND TECHNICAL CENTER Inc. April 24, 1962, No. 22632/64. Divided out of 973,708. Drawings to Specification. Heading G1A. The subject matter of this Specification is substantially the same as that of Specification 973, 708, but the claims relate to a method and apparatus for testing a body permeable to gamma rays in which gamma rays are passed in to the body and scattered gamma rays falling within a cone having a semi-angle of substantially 30 degrees and its axis along the direction of incident radiation are selectively detected to actuate means indicating the structural characteristics of the body.
