Abstract

A tobacco smoke filter comprises an envelope impervious to smoke containing a plurality of longitudinally aligned collagenous strips. The collagenous strip material is obtained by dispersing fibrous collagenous material in liquid, casting a film of the dispersion obtained, rendering the film self-supporting to form a web and cutting the web into a plurality of elongated strips. The strips preferably have cross-sectional dimensions of 0.5 mm. x 0.5 mm. The collagenous material is partly tanned before being cast as a film. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 914,123.
