Abstract

973,562. Bolting; washers; covers for nuts. DARCHEM ENGINEERING Ltd. April 12, 1961 [April 12, 1960], No. 13026/60. Heading F2H. [Also in Divisions B3 and G6] In order to secure a metal insulating panel 3 on a nuclear reactor shell A, panel apertures 2 for receiving studs 1 fixed to the shell surface are made large to overcome discrepancies caused by mislocation of the studs and the space around each stud is filled by an eccentricallyholed ring 4 whose hole is filled by a further eccentrically-holed ring 5 encircling the stud 1; the rings 4, 5 each comprise a casing containing insulation and are angularly adjusted into position. Flanges on the ring casings, at the edge of each ring remote from the shell A, hold the rings in position and they are secured by a nut 6. A cover panel 13 with a large hole 14 may be held over the insulating panel 3 by rings 7, 8, similar to the rings 4, 5 in being eccentrically holed, and secured by a nut 15 shielded by an insulating pad 16 in a casing 17.
