Abstract

973,554. Coating-apparatus. BERGER, JENSON & NICHOLSON Ltd. July 18, 1963 [July 25, 1962], No. 28416/63. Heading B2B. A device for applying various thicknesses of a wet film of liquid comprises an elongated member having extremities 10, 11 of circular cross-section of the same diameter with a common central axis and an intermediate portion 13 of circular cross-section, the diameter of which is less than the diameter of the extremities and the central axis 14 of which is radially displaced from the common central axis 12 of the extremities by a distance not greater than the difference between the radii of the extremities and the intermediate portion. In use the member is rotated to provide a desired clearance between the intermediate portion and a plane surface to which a film is to be applied ; the clearance may be shown by indicia 15 on the member. Grooves 16, 17 confine the coating material to the central portion.
