Abstract
Three methods are provided for gluing planar or sheet parts made of composite fibre materials. Regions of the parts 1, 2 to be glued together are provided with tongues 6, 7 which overlap after gluing. Firstly, the tongues may be wetted with adhesive 3 and the parts pushed together at an angle * small Greek alpha * such that no contact occurs between the faces of the tongues wetted with adhesive and the adhesive surface of the other part during displacement and one or both parts are then swivelled so that the angle is removed. Secondly, the panels may be pushed together in such a manner that a tongue of one part is laid over an opposite tongue of the other part and pressure is applied perpendicular to the plane of the panels. Thirdly, the tongues 6, 7 may be formed from the skin of a composite material and adhesive is applied both to the tongues and to the core region, or to folded down portions overlying the core region, in areas 17 which will abut the corresponding part. The tongues may include a double fold (5, Figure 1) so that they are displaced from the plane of the parts to be glued.
