Abstract

970,101. Piezo-electric generators. CLEVITE CORPORATION. Nov. 1, 1962 [Nov. 7, 1961], No. 41350/62. Heading H2A. A piezo-electric generator for spark ignition is arranged to compress the piezo-electric element 41a, 41b slowly and release it suddenly to produce the ignition impulse. This is done by means of a toggle 19, 21 which is actuated by a snail cam 57. The cam is adjustable by screw 63 and the toggle by screw 17. Current generated during the slow compression is dissipated through the resistances ra, rb and capacitance C of the elements, or through separate resistances or through a spark-gap. Specifications 712,803 and 918,925 are referred to.
