An elongated member of decorative nature comprises a transparent or translucent flexible plastics material containing a plurality of elements made from another material and arranged in at least one row extending along the length of the member, the elements being enveloped by the material of the member and discernible therethrough. The member may be of any shape in cross-section and where a plurality of rows is used, the rows may be disposed in any configuration. The elements of the row may be separate from each other, e.g. balls or beads or may be joined together, e.g. as links of a chain or beads of the " pop-in " type. They may be of metal or of a plastics material different from that of the member. They may also be of a fragile nature, e.g. a series of leaves twisted into a three-dimensional form. The member may also include a coloured or reflective strip completely embedded in the member behind the elements or secured by suitable adhesive to an outer part of the member. The member may also be in the form of a tube into the bore of which the elements, which should be tight-fitting, may be pushed or alternatively the tube may surround a plated or suitably coloured central rod, the elements being arranged in rows apart annularly round the tube. The member may be made by extrusion moulding.
