Abstract

A process for vulcanizing amorphous polymers of mono-olefins comprises incorporating a monomeric compound containing at least two acrylic acid amide groups and heating the mixture in the presence of a free radical polymerization initiator, e.g. an organic peroxide. Specified amides are methylene-bis-acrylamide, ethylene-bis-acrylamide, benzylidene-bis-acrylamide and methylene-bis-acrylic acid methylamide. Sulphur or selenium are optional ingredients and in an example the ethylene/propylene copolymer used contains carbon black.
