966,903. Control systems for demagnetizing magnetic materials. SOLUS-SCHALL Ltd. Sept. 14, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 31248/59. Heading H2H. Apparatus for demagnetizing magnetic materials provides for the gradual reduction of the excitation of the material by operation of a switch 17 which firstly, varies the transformation ratio of the transformer 12 by movement over the positions 1-5; secondly, inserts portions 14, 15 of an impedance in series with the transformer 12 on positions 6, 7 and finally in position 8 of the switch places a thermistor 16 in parallel with the transformer 12, the resistance of which falls as it heats. A plurality of ther- .mistors 16 are provided to allow adequate cooling time for the thermistors when successive demagnetizing operations are made, the selector switch 18 being associated with the switch 17 by a Geneva mechanism.
