Abstract

966,285. Transistor amplifying circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. March 22, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 11473/63. Heading H3T. An arrangement for amplifying opposite-phase outputs of a transducer while suppressing the effects of equal phase outputs therefrom comprises two input terminals for connection across the transducer and a balanced amplifier comprising two transistorized amplifier circuits connected in push-pull, the input terminals being connected differentially to each amplifier circuit, whereby there is obtained from each an output which is proportional to the difference between the signals at the input terminals. The arrangement is more particularly intended for amplifying the output from the read-out wire of a magnetic core matrix; one end E of the wire is connected via resistor R1 to the base of one transistor Tr1 and the other end E<SP>1</SP> to a tap on the emitter circuit resistor via resistor R<SP>1</SP>2 and a D.C. blocking capacitor C<SP>1</SP>1. The end E<SP>1</SP> of the wire 1 is similarly connected to the base of the other transistor Tr2 and the end E of the wire to a tap on the emitter circuit resistor via resistor R2 and a D.C. blocking capacitor C1. The transistors are biased so as to operate in class A.
