Abstract
966,031. Moulding aerial reflectors. MARCONI CO. Ltd. May 10, 1962 [July 26, 1961], No. 27068/61. Heading B5A. [Also in Division H4] In a method of making a curved reflector aerial (Fig. 2, not shown) (see Division H4) or a section thereof (Fig. 1, not shown), a fine metal mesh is stretched over the surface 9 of the mould 8 and a fibre glass support is moulded thereon. The fibre glass support is provided with flanges, one moulded against an upright edge (not shown) of the mould 8, the other moulded against the edge 10 on the movable gantry 1. A further support member is fastened to the flanges and the space between the supports is filled with polyurethane foam or honeycomb paper. The mesh may be of copper in which case epoxy resin is used as a binder, or it may be of aluminium or steel in which case polyester resin is used.
