A fluid sample introducing device for a gas chromatograph comprising a cylinder device 1 for transferring the sample from a sample reservoir 7, sample injecting means 3 to pour the sample from the cylinder device to the sample introducing chamber 2 of the gas chromatograph, means to operate the sample injecting means so as to advance it into the sample introducing chamber 2 to take up a feeding position and to withdraw it from the chamber to take up a shut-off position, and an automatic control system to regulate the automatic repetition of the operation of the cylinder device and the sample injecting means in the sequence (i) collecting the sample by the cylinder device, (ii) advancing the sample injecting means into the sample introducing chamber. (iii) feeding the sample and (iv) withdrawing the injection means to the shut-off position from the sample introducing chamber. The automatic control system may be directed by means of a programmer and the sample injecting means (see Fig. 2) may be movably housed in a cylinder 22 which contains an air tight, spring loaded valve 25 arranged to open into the sample introducing chamber 21, support means being provided for carrying the sample injecting means and for actuating the valve, said support means being a plunger 23 which is arranged so as to push open the air-tight valve when it is advanced, the plunger being surrounded by packing rings 34 which engage with drain holes 33 in the housing cylinder when the plunger is in the sample injection position. In Fig. 1 electric motor M 1 operates the cylinder device 1 through an operatively connecting mechanism 8 including cams, some of which operate to open and close a group of contacts 9. Motor M 2 operates the plungers 4 through operatively connecting mechanism 10 including cams to open and close contacts 11. The cylinder device 1 is constructed so as to feed simultaneously equal amounts of fluid sample into four sample introducing chambers arranged in parallel.
